The LAKES REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) program is looking to recruit students.
The topic of the program is interdisciplinary research into sustainable watershed management. Students get a $4000 stipend for the 8-week program and a great research experience.
Geography students with interests in community-based watershed management, rural geography, agriculture, and land use are encouraged to apply. Qualitative research and GIS will be used. The research could include interviews w/land managers & conservationists, archival research into the history of land use, or GIS & modeling of erosion risks and sites for potential restoration.
The program is particularly looking to recruit first generation students and those from underrepresented groups.
