Join Veteran Student Life, in partnership with the George Washington University Military & Veteran Services, in a film screening of THE WEIGHT OF HONOR — the first comprehensive documentary to chronicle the lives of families caring for their catastrophically wounded returning from wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The event will be held inside the Colony Ballroom on the STAMP second floor. Doors will open at 6 pm. This event is public and open to all — especially students interested in care and public health.
The film follows the arc of what happens when some of America's best and strongest volunteer to protect our nation, but return home physically and emotionally broken and disillusioned. What happens when they return is not only a personal journey but also that of their family caregivers who have no training other than the love for their wounded.
A panel discussion will follow the screening with the documentary's director, Stephanie Seldin Howard, and special guest, Timothy Brown—President of Georgetown University's Student Veteran Association and U.S. Marine Corps Veteran. Mr. Brown will speak on his experience with rehabilitation after his wounds sustained in combat. The panel discussion will be chaired by our very own Director of STAMP, Dr. Marsha Guenzler-Stevens.
