Mapping Event at the World Bank Headquarters!

OpenDRI and GFDRR invite you to participate in our mapping event in the World Bank Headquarters on Wednesday, November 14 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. This Mapathon seeks to bring attention to the numerous benefits of using geospatial data in providing solutions to development and disaster risk reduction (DRR) initiatives.

Organized as part of Geography Awareness Week, the event will be an exhibition of community and crowdsourced mapping initiatives, championed by World Bank teams and our extensive network of partners in the mapping community. It will feature a short panel discussion, a unique hands-on “mapathon” training experience, and lightning talks from experienced World Bank colleagues and mapping partners. Teams of experienced mappers and project managers will be available to introduce new mappers to the process.

Attendees will learn about innovative collaborative mapping methodologies to capture information for DRR initiatives while listening to lightning talks on machine learning, sustainable mapping practices and data collection. Attendees may come and leave at any point. Light lunch will be provided.
