Geospatial/Geological Intern

Enegis, LLC, is looking for an Intern to join our team in developing technoeconomic-based solutions for energy transition and energy projects. We are a consulting firm that is active in the ongoing energy transition with several projects relating to the geologic carbon sequestration industry. Duties for this role include working in a professional environment with energy experts, environmental scientists, and industry consultants. The knowledge of GIS systems and processes, paired with an ability to synthesize researched data, is required. An ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of GIS operations/ methodologies and expertise with ESRI software. Experience in geology or geologic carbon sequestration is preferred. We are interested in someone who is passionate, self-motivated, and prides themselves with their strong attention to detail.

In this role, we will count on you to: 

  • Georeference and digitize data in ArcGIS Desktop
  • Integrate pre-existing geographic datasets
  • Develop vector spatial analysis tools to increase workflow efficiencies
  • Create workflows based on knowledge personal and file geodatabase properties
  • Develop project schemas and methodologies using VBA
  • Perform quality, documented research


Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Geography, GIS, Cartography, or a similar field, in progress
  • Experience with ESRIs ArcGIS Software Suite
  • Familiarity with personal and file geodatabases; as well as vector and raster data types
  • Experience in data visualization
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • ESRI Certification
  • Advanced technical and economic knowledge of carbon sequestration
  • Knowledge of the energy industry
  • Experience with the Mendeley citation manager


Position may be remote with frequent meetings in Fairfax, VA.
