Student Legal Aid Office Internship Opportunity

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Please attach a resume, cover letter (explaining why you are applying for this internship and how you will contribute to our office), and transcript to your application (official transcript, please).  The next page is a data sheet that must accompany all applications. A minimum 3.0 G.P.A. is recommended.  The application will not be considered complete unless accompanied by the transcript. You can either have the registrar mail us the transcript, or they can issue you a copy which can be dropped off at our office.

INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
  • To qualify for the internship, you must have completed 56 credit hours by the time you begin the internship, 12 of which must have been at UMCP.
  • If accepted, you must attend the scheduled intern training prior to the start of the semester. If you cannot attend the mandatory training, you cannot participate in the internship. Training will be Friday August 23, 2019 from 10am to 2pm.
  • If accepted, you must provide a schedule of hours available for work in the office.  A minimum of 12 hours of availability (between the hours of 10am to 4pm Monday through Friday) must be provided, although a lesser number will be assigned.  The number of scheduled office hours is usually about six per week. If you do not provide a schedule conducive to the needs of the office, you cannot participate in the internship.
  • If accepted, you must attend a class on Tuesdays from 4:00 p.m. – 5:15 p.m., so you should arrange your schedule accordingly.
  • If accepted, you will complete an “Experiential Learning Proposal” and register for this three-credit course as EDCP 386.  NOTE:  You may receive credit for EDCP 386 only once.
  • This application can be dropped off at our office, or emailed to Sarah Grabowski at sboyer1@umd.edu.  A transcript must be delivered with every application.
