Paid Undergraduate Summer Research Internship

Are you interested in hands-on Hyperspectral Imaging experience and learning how to work with interdisciplinary teams? Here is an opportunity.

The Geography Department (www.uni.edu/csbs/geography) at the University of Northern Iowa once again host a NSF-funded REU program to introduce young scientists to a highly interdisciplinary research environment with fundamental and applied research in hyperspectral imaging. Hyperspectral imagine is widely used in various disciplines such as Earth Science, Environmental Science, Biology, Forestry, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geographic Information Science (GISc), and more. Students don't need to be a geography major or have remote sensing background to be qualified. A successful candidate should have U.S.-citizen or permanent-resident status and have at least one semester of undergraduate studies remaining after the initial summer program (graduating seniors in May 2019 and graduate students are not eligible to apply). 

The application deadline is March 22, 2019.

Summer Stipend: $4,000 for eight weeks (May 20-July 12, 2019). In addition, the program will cover the cost of transportation to and from the REU site, housing, a meal plan, lab supplies, and up to $750 for follow up activities.
