I wanted to alert
you to a summer program for graduate students and upper-level undergraduates
co-sponsored by NASA, UVa's Advanced Research Computing Services Group, and
UVa's Department of Environmental Sciences. This opportunity is a
combination training and internship program. Advanced Computing for Earth
Sciences is an opportunity for students interested in computational modeling
for atmospheric, ocean, climate, geophysical, and other Earth Sciences.
Selected students will spend the first 2.5 weeks in Charlottesville, Virginia
learning programming skills, basic software engineering, and high-performance
computing. This will be followed by an 8-week internship at a NASA research
center. Students will be matched with a mentor based on their stated interests.
Students with an existing relationship with a NASA scientist may also request
an internship with that individual. The application deadline is March 1. Please
