Scholarship with Organization of Fish & Wildlife-- Due 8/30

The Organization of Fish and Wildlife Information Managers (OFWIM) announces the OFWIM Student Research Scholarship which recognizes academic and professional excellence among students enrolled full-time in fisheries/wildlife related curricula at an accredited college or university, with research or study emphasizing wildlife information management and/or geographic information systems (GIS).  This scholarship supports student research and attendance at the 2019 OFWIM Conference and Annual meeting in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, October 6-10, 2019.  To learn more about OFWIM and for a link to the application form, visit http://www.ofwim.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/2019-Research-Scholarship-Form.pdf.

Two awards will be made and is open to graduate or undergraduate students who are local to the conference and working towards a program such as a Bachelor’s degree, Graduate Certificate Program, Master’s degree, or PhD.  Membership in OFWIM is not required for eligibility.

The award will be based on quality of the applicant and the research project.  The recipient must present a formal paper on the research project prospectus during the 2019 Conference and Annual Meeting to be held at Shepherdstown, West Virginia, October 6-10, 2019. The recipient must also present a formal paper on the project results or significant progress at the OFWIM 2020 Conference and Annual Meeting to be held TBD.

The recipients will be eligible for a $500 research scholarship awarded at the 2019 conference and a second $500 research scholarship awarded at the 2020 conference.  In addition, the recipients will be awarded a student conference registration fee waiver for two years, and up to $1000 travel reimbursement will be available for the 2020 conference.

As a grassroots environmental nonprofit, the Maryland Sierra Club offers many internship opportunities for those passionate about advocating for a safer, healthier planet. At our office conveniently located on Route 1, students can take advantage of diverse openings in office management & administration, outdoor education, political environmental advocacy, communications & marketing, web design, community organizing, event planning, and policy research.

Our interns become part of the office team and are essential to accomplishing many of the Chapter’s environmental conservation goals. Working side by side with staff and lead volunteers, interns get the opportunity to see how a grassroots non­profit works, gain valuable real world experience, and become the next generation of activist leaders.

Internships in China

Gotoco is a small social enterprise committed to promoting cultural exchange between China and the English-speaking world. Our programs are unique because we do not charge anyone to take part. Social enterprises are businesses committed to helping improve local, national and global communities and reinvest any profits into their social mission. Our aim is to introduce more Western university students to China and its diverse culture. We seek to improve tomorrow’s international relations by allowing the next generation of leaders to engage with one of the most economically, politically and culturally important countries of the 21st century. Through our programs, students can spend a month or two teaching in picturesque and exciting parts of China, such as Beijing, Shanghai and Yangshuo. While inspiring the next generation of Chinese children to learn English, the students would also take part in Mandarin lessons, cultural trips and traveling.

Graduate Student Assistant at the Environmental Finance Center

AAG Internship

The AAG is recruiting specifically for an intern who has both GIS and computer programming skills and experience, to work closely with one of our staff members on an NSF-funded grant for a Geospatial Virtual Data Enclave (GVDE).


We welcome applications from interested students, who can offer approx. 25 - 30 hours a week to the AAG for the fall semester.

Internships at AAG
The AAG seeks interns on a year-round basis for the spring, summer, and fall semesters. 
Interns participate in most AAG programs and projects such as education, outreach, research, website, publications, or the Annual Meeting. The AAG also arranges for interns to accompany different AAG staff on visits to related organizations or events of interest during the course of their internship. A monthly stipend of $700 is provided and interns are expected to make their own housing and related logistical arrangements. Enrollment in a Geography or closely related program is preferred but not a prerequisite for these opportunities.
