Scholarship with Organization of Fish & Wildlife-- Due 8/30

The Organization of Fish and Wildlife Information Managers (OFWIM) announces the OFWIM Student Research Scholarship which recognizes academic and professional excellence among students enrolled full-time in fisheries/wildlife related curricula at an accredited college or university, with research or study emphasizing wildlife information management and/or geographic information systems (GIS).  This scholarship supports student research and attendance at the 2019 OFWIM Conference and Annual meeting in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, October 6-10, 2019.  To learn more about OFWIM and for a link to the application form, visit http://www.ofwim.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/2019-Research-Scholarship-Form.pdf.


Two awards will be made and is open to graduate or undergraduate students who are local to the conference and working towards a program such as a Bachelor’s degree, Graduate Certificate Program, Master’s degree, or PhD.  Membership in OFWIM is not required for eligibility.


The award will be based on quality of the applicant and the research project.  The recipient must present a formal paper on the research project prospectus during the 2019 Conference and Annual Meeting to be held at Shepherdstown, West Virginia, October 6-10, 2019. The recipient must also present a formal paper on the project results or significant progress at the OFWIM 2020 Conference and Annual Meeting to be held TBD.

The recipients will be eligible for a $500 research scholarship awarded at the 2019 conference and a second $500 research scholarship awarded at the 2020 conference.  In addition, the recipients will be awarded a student conference registration fee waiver for two years, and up to $1000 travel reimbursement will be available for the 2020 conference.
