Maxar Geospatial Analytical Intern for the 2022

Maxar is seeking a Geospatial Analytical Intern for the 2022 summer intern program in the Ypsilanti, MI, or St. Louis, MO.  As the intern, you will support large federal programs providing a variety of geospatial products and services.  We are looking for a team member who has a strong interest in the GIS, Remote Sensing, or GEOINT industry and is ready to integrate into a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

What would you be doing?

  • Perform data extraction and enrichment techniques using satellite imagery and a variety of standard and non-standard data sources
  • Perform data conversion, conflation, and integration
  • Perform data analysis and assessment
  • Use commercial and/or open-source GIS software packages to process, edit, and attribute vector and raster data
  •  Generate vector data and cartographic mapping products conforming to customer specifications from GIS data layers
  •  Participate in the development of workflow enhancements to improve production efficiency and quality

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be a rising Sophomore or rising Junior, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with GIS software packages such as ArcGIS or QGIS
  • Experience with Remote Sensing software such as ERDAS Imagine or ENVI
  • Familiarity with spatial data types, data schemas, and associated file formats
  • Python scripting experience
  • Experience with Oracle or Postgres databases
  • Good written and oral communication skills
