MaryPIRG Textbook Discussion
The itinerary of this event consists of a short talk by a Faculty member in the Library about the ever growing cost of textbooks and the toll that it is having on students educational and personal lives. We will then segue into a open discussion led by the Affordable Textbook campaign with potential alternatives and resources that will assist students on ways to get their textbooks in ways that will lessen the financial stress.

Hollings Scholarship Application
Attention SOPHOMORES studying atmospheric and oceanic sciences, environmental engineering, environmental sciences and policy, or ANY major with a strong environmental focus or interest!
The Hollings Scholarship provides two-year academic scholarships (up to a maximum of $9,500 per year) for full-time study, and a 10-week, full-time, paid internship position ($650/week) the summer after junior year at a NOAA facility. In the last five years, 26 Maryland students have won Hollings Scholarships.
The National Scholarships Office is offering information sessions for students interested in learning more about the Hollings Scholarship program - please write to noaahollings@umd.edu indicating which session you plan to attend (if you cannot attend but are interested, write to the same address):

Responsibilities
- Uses geographic information systems (GIS) software to identify, process, analyze, and compare geographic and demographic patterns.
- Uses GIS and spreadsheet software to assess, validate, and edit geographic layers and demographic data tables.
- Analyzes studies of population patterns, describes results.
