Job Openings and IPUMS Award Call for Submissions


Job Openings

The MPC is hiring. We are currently recruiting candidates who are enthusiastic about creating the data that fuels social science and health research around the world. We are seeking smart, technically-minded people to join our growing team of researchers and technical staff.

We have several open research positions at different professional levels (BA/BSMA/MSPhD). Our researchers are involved in all stages of data and metadata production, including the web dissemination system and outreach. We are constantly pushing the boundaries of data processing and dissemination methods, and we are looking for people who will approach these methods with initiative and creativity.


IPUMS Research Award

We are seeking submissions for the IPUMS Research Award. Candidates for this award used IPUMS microdata in a paper that was published in 2015. Papers or publications submitted should utilize IPUMS-USA, IPUMS-CPS, IPUMS-International or IHIS data to study social, economic, and/or demographic processes. Cash prizes will be awarded for best published work and for best work by a graduate student (published or unpublished).

Graduate Student Training Program

The MPC recently launched a new Graduate Training Program in Population Studies. Students admitted to a variety of University of Minnesota Ph.D. programs can apply for a three-year fully-funded traineeship. MPC Trainees will gain hands-on experience as part of substantive and data infrastructure research projects in a vibrant and growing interdisciplinary population center. Visit our website to learn more about this new program.
