UMD Students lead Mid-Atlantic AAG Team to Geography Bowl Victory!

The Mid Atlantic Team won first place in the 2018 World Geography Bowl, an annual geography knowledge competition for teams of college-level geography students representing the AAG’s regional divisions. The MAD Team defeated Team SEDAAG during the final round of the event where AAG President Derek Alderman served as a guest judge. In its 29th year of hosting, the 2018 AAG World Geography Bowl provides a fun nighttime conference activity while also assisting students in attending the AAG Annual Meeting.

EVENT: Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) Online Information Session

TIME: 6 PM on Wednesday, May 9th


The MPS GEOINT program provides workforce-focused technical training that gives graduates the skills and expertise to lead new initiatives in the rapidly shifting landscape of GEOINT applications, data collection systems, analytic methods, and mission support. The master program may be taken on a full-time or part-time basis, and may be taken fully online or on-site. The MPS GEOINT degree can be completed in as little as 15 months.

In this online information session, we will introduce our Master’s program in Geospatial Intelligence, and discuss our unique program format, curriculum, class delivery, and the admissions process. The session will feature a comprehensive presentation, and a question and answer section with us. I hope that you will join us to learn how this master's degree can advance your career in the geospatial industry.

We are now accepting applications for admission in Fall 2018 (Application deadline: July 26, 2018) and Spring 2019. MS position in Data science & Agricultural Resilience

Funding is available for a MS student to study agricultural resilience and sustainability in the face of future climate change in the Department of Environment and Society at Utah State University.  This project focuses on data-driven identification of resilient agro-ecosystems and spatiotemporal modeling of agricultural responses to climate change.

The successful candidate must have a solid background in statistics, GIS, and programming.  Students will have the opportunity to receive a degree in Geography (MS), Environment and Society (MS), or Ecology(MS).  The position will start in January 2019, though students interested in an earlier start date should contact Dr. Burchfield.
