Main Purpose Of Job

Assist the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with the maintenance of the State's Enterprise GIS platform, MD iMAP.

POSITION DUTIES

Duties will include, but are not limited to:
*Create, inventory and maintain geospatial (GIS) data
*Update metadata and register datasets with open data portals
*Assist with updates and publishing of GIS web services
*Prepare documentation and content for internal and external user communications
*Attend staff meetings and other pertinent meetings 
Interns may also be assigned to work on other designated projects and tasks, as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

*Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university
*Total credits qualifying as junior year status or above
*Geography or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) majors or other related fields
*Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA
*Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
*Basic knowledge of Esri ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Online
*Must successfully pass a background check

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be able to work eight (8) hours a day for a least two days per week

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. 
As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
