Now that you have completed your LinkedIn profile, you may be wondering what is next! Attend this Lab to gain tips for following organizations of interest, researching your major related skills, and obtain a template for crafting messages to potential contacts.

Photo Friday - April Edition 
Friday, April 24, 2015 • 11:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Location: University Career Center & The President’s Promise (3rd Floor Hornbake Library, South Wing)
Introducing Photo Fridays! The Center is offering free professional head shots! Arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your time slot. You will be directed to a room where you may change, prep, and wait for your moment in the spotlight. Each session will last roughly 5 minutes. Photos will be prepped and emailed to you by the end of the next business day. Scheduled appointments will occur between 11:00 am and 1:30 pm. Walk-ins will be accepted between 1:30 pm and 2:00 pm. For additional information about this event: contact Michelle Lopez-Mullins at mlopezmu@umd.edu.

Queer Life in the Real World Career Panel

Navigating life after Maryland in the real world is a challenge for all students, especially students who identify under the LGBTQ spectrum. With support from the LGBT Equity Center, Lambda Pride, OSTEM, SmithOUT, and PrideAlliance, The University Career Center & The President's Promise will host a career panel with recent LGBTQ Terp Alumni to share how they are navigating their first job experiences as well as share advice on being out (or not) in the workplace and why it matters. Do you want to know how to get the most out of your summer internship experience? The University Career Center & the President's Promise invites UMD undergraduate students with summer internships to talk with our Peer Career Educators and enjoy Maryland Dairy ice cream! Come by anytime on April 27 between 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm! The Peer Career Educators will be available to answer questions on networking, professional dress, dealing with workplace problems, setting up informational interviews and more! BSOS Career Lab: Salary negotiation

Learn how to research your worth and use that research to negotiate your salary. Attendees will leave with a salary range for their industry for the geographical area they are interested in working, talking points to use during salary negotiation, and knowledge of the cost of living in their area of choice. This event is part of the BSOS Career Lab for students in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences.

The Real Real World Career Series: Diversity + Me 
Wednesday, April 29, 2015 • 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Location: Prince George's Room - Stamp Student Union

Come learn the basics of how to create a more inclusive environment at work. Hear from diversity expert Pamela Allen on how to deal with common issues that may pop up in the workplace. While you're at it, you'll get to know about the many diversity related resources available at your disposal. Everyone is welcome! There will be food. The Real Real World Career Series is designed to prepare current students and young alumni for the realities of it's like to be a professional in the real world outside of the day-to-day job and to provide advice on how to successfully navigate the basics of being a top-notch young professional. This event is supported by the Pepsi Enhancement Fund program.
