GIS Specialist I-Term Job Offer with Montgomery Planning

The Information Technology and Innovation Division with Montgomery County Planning Department of the Maryland National Capital Parks and Planning Commission has a GIS Specialist I position open!

GIS Specialists I perform technical mapping/data processing tasks, like certifying and approving accuracy of planimetric and property maps, developing and modifying GIS applications, developing analyses and map presentations with GIS, along with many other tasks. Applicants for this position should be able to create, update, and maintain software applications, complete report requests using GIS, provide GIS technical support for those within the company and contractors. The salary for this job is $46,293-$79,213.

To qualify for this position, each applicant should have...

  • a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 24 credit hours in cartography, geography, computer science, information management, GIS, engineering, photgrammetry or related fields
  • an Associate's degree or nationally recognized certificate in GIS including work in the previously mentioned fields or related field with two years' experience in GIS operating on UNIX, DOS, and Windows platforms as a substitution for a Bachelor's degree
  • (OR) an equivalent combination of education and experience
